Dear Missouri S&T Student

On behalf of Student Affairs I would like to thank you for being part of the Missouri S&T campus community. I sincerely hope your experience this year will be rewarding, successful, and filled with the excitement of new learning opportunities. The Division of Student Affairs supports the academic mission of Missouri S&T by preparing our students to assume roles of leadership through campus involvement and service.

Your college years present important experiences along with significant choices, some which can threaten your success; among them are the high risk use of alcohol. It is critical that every student be equipped to monitor drinking patterns, identify significant risk factors and be familiar with the resources available. For this reason, I am asking that every student complete the S&T Alcohol eCHECKUP TO GO before returning to campus this fall.

But I don't drink alcohol! ... What value is this program to me?
Our most recent data indicates that over a third of S&T students under the age of 21 do not drink alcohol. Of those who choose to drink, most keep their BAC at a .04 or below. (Missouri College Health Behavior Survey [MCHBS] 2012, N=450).

The eCHECKUP TO GO program is designed specifically for college age students and provides personalized, evidence-based education and online prevention intervention strategies regarding the use of alcohol. Student Affairs programs and services support the creation of an environment which fosters integrity, respect, trust, openness, fairness, quality performance and accountability. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and having the support of your family contributes a great deal to your success and brings vitality to the S&T campus community.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the eCHECKUP TO GO online module which is linked from our Student Wellness website: http://studentwellness.mst.edu. We appreciate your commitment to becoming a knowledgeable, compassionate and productive member of the campus community.

My sincere best wishes for your success,
Dr. Debra Robinson, Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs at Missouri S&T
