Missouri University of Science and Technology

Dear Missouri S&T Community,

In surveys conducted in 2006 and 2007 by the Female, Underrepresented, and Minority Faculty Recruiting and Retention Task Force (FUMFRR), a high-quality child development center affiliated with the university was identified as critical to recruitment and retention of a talented professional workforce. The facility would be instrumental in improving productivity and creating a family-friendly working environment, and would address the need for licensed quality childcare facility in the Rolla community.

The FUMFRR Task Force has assessed demand, conducted feasibility studies, developed a business plan, contacted potential partners, and evaluated various location alternatives.  In response to the weak economy and the needs of the campus and Rolla communities, S&T would like to move forward and implement the proposed Child Development Center, which will target user populations different from those of existing facilities in Rolla. It is estimated that 16 to 19 new jobs will be created for the community, which in turn will provide a significant boost to the local economy in addition to benefits to the S&T community.

The proposed childcare center will not be subsidized by Missouri S&T, and thus, it must be self-supporting. The purpose of this survey is to gauge the interest and estimate the enrollment from Missouri S&T families, to determine if a childcare center is economically sustainable before moving forward with establishing such a facility.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.  You may access the survey here.
