Missouri S&T Corporate Relations Newsletter: March 2016

Invest in the future.
Forge a strategic partnership with S&T.

Welcome to the first edition of Missouri S&T's Corporate Relations Newsletter. In this inaugural edition, learn about our new office and how you can benefit from all the university has to offer.

Missouri S&T's influence and collaboration extends far beyond the classroom - from the intitial spark of creativity, to the workplace to the meeting room. We know that today's corporate partnerships are complex and multi-dimensional. Our corporate relations team will work with you to create a personalized plan for your business to leverage campus resources and expertise.

Meeting a strategic need

Recognizing the importance of strengthening connections with our corporate partners, Missouri S&T put corporate relations front and center in the university's customer-focused strategic plan. The plan called on the university community to "Centralize corporate relations to improve service to existing partners and to identify and establish new partnerships for the purpose of increasing/enhancing research, economic development, credit and non-credit education, philanthropy, and the hiring of our graduates."

And so the office of corporate relations was born. John Eash, a Missouri S&T graduate and former Boeing executive, was named executive director of corporate relations in August 2015. John holds a B.S. in aerospace engineering (1979) and an M.S. in engineering management (1990) from S&T. Before being named to lead the corporate relations team at S&T, he served as Division Director for Supplier Quality at Boeing and as Boeing’s executive focal to manage the company’s relationship with Missouri S&T.

Three ways we can help

How can our corporate relations office be of service to you? The office has three primary roles, and they are all about helping you work with the university:

Integrate university functions to improve industry partnerships. Through corporate relations, you'll find a streamlined approach to doing business with Missouri S&T, and a dedicated team of professionals to assist.
Connect industry needs with university assets. Universities are unusual and complex organizations, a hybrid of business and academia, and understanding the most efficient way to navigate the academic system can be a challenge. Our staff can help you find the right resources you need.
Serve as a single interface to assist companies with university engagements. Think of corporate relations as your one-stop shop for all your partnership needs.

Corporate relations in the news

Getting smart with energy. S&T's microgrid project has received international attention for the unique research and strong collaboration with corporate partners.

Building a biomedical presence. Through our partnership with Phelps County Regional Medical Center, S&T and PCRMC have created the Ozark Biomedical Initiative to further collaborative research. The initiative held its first research symposium on Feb. 27, 2016.

Simplifying collaboration. S&T recently entered into a master collaboration agreement with Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies to streamline the processes of doing business. It's the third such collaboration of the past 18 months (first was with Boeing, then PCRMC).
