In Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and Technology

The University of Missouri-Rolla is proud to again host 7th and 8th grade girls to a day of activities that help them discover how interesting and fun engineering, mathematics, science, and technology can be. The EYH program helps to promote and nurture young girls’ interest in these areas and encourages them to expand their career visions.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of UMR students and other individuals in an open forum panel discussion, hear a professional success story, and participate in hands-on workshops which will bring these career options to life.

Pre-Register now!
Since EYH is always a popular event, enrollment is limited to 500 students.  We therefore recommend pre-registering your class early.  You may complete the enclosed pre-registration form with appropriate information and return it to the address indicated no later than August 6. Pre-registered schools only will receive a conference flyer and further registration information. Actual student rosters will be collected at the beginning of the next school term (August 2007).

At this time, each school is limited to 24 students until October 1, 2007.  If there is more than one math and/or science teacher in your school, we ask that you work together to decide which students should attend.  On or after October 2, you may call Lindsay Bagnall at 573-341-4442 to see if additional spots are available.

Schedule
You should plan to arrive on the UMR campus between 8:00-8:30 am to check in and receive your individual schedules and handouts.  The program will begin promptly at 8:45 am and will end with the closing session at 2:30 pm. A bus schedule with pick-up times and locations will be mailed with registration confirmation approximately 1-2 weeks before the event.

Cost
The fee is $12 per person and includes lunch, handouts, and door prizes.  Payments may be made as a group for schools who wish to sponsor their students, or collected individually.  Each person will receive an individual schedule and all participants are required to remain on the UMR campus for the duration of the day.  We cannot accommodate those who must arrive late or leave early.

Responsibility
We ask that one adult sponsor attend for every 12 students.  The registration is free for a maximum of two adult sponsors; additional sponsors pay $12 each. We look forward to hosting your class on campus! If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

This years EYH program will be sponsored by the Distance & continuing Education Office and the Women’s Leadership Institute.  For further information Contact the Distance & Continuing Education Office.
